SELF-PUBLISHING: Maybe you've already self-published a book, or had one published the conventional way. You'd like to try self-publishing, perhaps for a second or third time. If your first book was the ultimate guide to a particular subject, aimed at a very specific readership or locality then chances are that you've already filled that market. But is there scope for an update? Have people who bought the book written to you with their own stories or sent further information? Could you expand the book to cover other regions? Could you expand the subject matter and look at a closely related topic? Could you cover a different period in history? If you can say yes to any one of these then you've already got a great idea for your next book - especially if the first one sold well.
